10/19/02
More excavation and removal of the old tree stumps to the wetlands area at the back. Starting to take shape now - more work will be done in about a week with a bulldozer.

Excavator is now working in the pool construction area, digging out the stumps and moving the large rocks next to the brook to form a wall that will be the boundary of the new pool.

08/01/02
Things are going quite well... I have felled approx 15 trees, some really large ones and some little tiddlers. Most of the time is spent debranching and feeding the brush into the shredder. As the clearing takes shape, we are getting more of an idea as to the shape of pool we want (more on that point later). I feel confident enough to do all the construction work myself (am I a fool or what?), I will hopefully be in a poision in a few weeks to rent a backhoe/digger and start excavating the site, once I have the pool dimension plans available. Site is a lot clearer now and brighter with some more of the larger trees (70 feet +) felled...

Work starts on clearing an area of forest near the south-west corner of the yard. Armed with a chainsaw, ropes and pulleys, wedges, sledgehammers, a very large bowsaw and a very powerful shredder/wood chipper, I have my work cut out...
